JB and his first restoration project...

Image
For the last several years JB has been wanting an army jeep for his car.  When I was at the  Shenandoah Valley Antique Show last weekend I stumbled across one....well, kind of... I found this adorable pedal car army jeep probably not 20 years old.  The body is metal but the tires are plastic.  As a joke I sent a picture to JB of the jeep in a text message.  I told him he had never really specified the type of army jeep he wanted.  Within a few hours he was calling me and he had me work a deal with the sellers.  No matter how well you know JB you still don't know how his mind is turning.  I thought that he was going to clean it up and sell it.  Once I got home and he got to see it first hand you could just see the wheels turning.  He started spitting out he'd like to make the head lights works, a fresh paint job, and her wanted it to represent a M*A*S*H jeep because he's such a big fan.  On Friday night after he got home f...

Common Courtesy…

Please and thank you are probably the things you thought when you read my title. I must agree with you that these are top on my list and I’m very self conscious of always using these two terms. I just have another pet peeve I want to address today. This past weekend I was at the Shenandoah Antique Show held in Fishersville, VA. This is an extremely packed show with isle ways designed for the mass number of shoppers this show has come through. The isles are not designed for hours of socializing. I’ve observed it before but never in the fashion that I observed it this past weekend. I watched as dealers set up at the show invited friends to come, sit down and converse for what turned out to be over two hours. This is fine if that is what they want to do, what I didn’t appreciate and I feel that as dealers they should know better, I watched as they placed chairs for the four of them to sit down in front of their neighbors booth blocking a six foot table from customers. In addition to thi...

Everything old is new again...

You can say that I practice what I preach. I live with practically everything vintage or slightly used. The only thing I’ve ever bought brand new that I can think of is my spare fridge and it was on sale or I would have waited for one to come up in an estate sale somewhere. Last weekend was finally time to put Courtney’s round baby bed away. I don’t like toddler beds, I feel they are a waste of money because they only last for such a short time. I had spent a lot of time looking for the perfect little girl’s bed. Last summer while traveling in South Carolina we found it. We walked into a large antique mall and there in a booth that was going out of business was a canopy bed. It had been marked down to $150. For an early 1900’s Walnut twin bed we felt we were getting a steal. And when the crochet laced top went with it, that made the deal even sweeter. The new bed was setup in her bedroom last weekend. I was at a show so Donnie and JB rearranged everything. They managed ...

My eBay Store...

Image
Yes, I did it!  I finally opened an eBay store.  Not something I'm sure I really wanted to do, but with the change in how eBay is going to calculate shipping charges with the final price fees I think it is the most economical thing for me.  Years ago eBay had antique stores on their site and I had one.  When they did away with those I never really wanted to be in a store front again.  Never say never.    So I'm learning and I'm not very technical.  I just know how to log on and list auctions (primarily).  I wish it could be so simple when trying to setup this store thing!  If you have an eBay store I would love your advice. Any advice for design etc is most appreciated!

What was your find this week?

I started a page on my blog for my readers to post their weekly favorite finds.  http://estatesandantiques.blogspot.com/p/findsdeals-of-week.html Please check it and add to it often.  You can e-mail photos, descriptions of your items to reggiesattic@live.com  include a contact e-mail if you plan on selling your item (no phone numbers please).  You can post your finds through the comment section but can't post photos.  If you don't want to post photos that is fine as well. I hope to make this a fun page where we all can share because there is nothing yard sale goers love most than to share what they have, saw, bought, and sold!

Spring has sprung and yard sale season has begun!

My mother and I always said yard sale season officially kicked off on the first weekend of April. I mean if football, deer, and Christmas can have a season why can’t yard sales? Although we would and I still go to sales year round. It seems so busy when the weather gets pretty. Come the middle of summer there are close to 100 sales every weekend in my area. As long as I can remember my mother would drag me to flea markets, yard sales, etc. My first husband’s grandmother loved to go to sales as much as my mother. They use to drive around to all of the sale on Friday’s and Saturday’s., I would tag along on Saturday’s. We were wild in a good way and we always had the best time. Sometimes we would laugh till we cried. We drove to some very interesting areas, places we never dreamed existed. We really would have been dangerous if we would had a GPS. Instead we drove around with laminated maps of all of the local towns and still managed to get lost sometimes. But my favorite part of our y...

Nothing says Chanel like Chanel...

Image
I don't usually mention items I am selling on eBay but today I had a client walk in with a wonderful consignment for eBay that has to be shared.  It just doesn't happen everyday! Nothing in this world can stop me dead in my tracks like the word "Chanel" and that's exactly what it happened.  Alot of times it would be something "CC" but not today.  A very classic style Cocco Chanel Belt or necklace walked in.  In simple terms "F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S" is all that I can say about it.  I have found where similar ones have sold for over $2200.  Also a very non-traditional pair of Chanel Earrings are being sold.  They are stunning on and will be perfect for any occassion.  Something worth taking the time to take a look.  Yes, the items are for sale on eBay with a buy it now and best offer option.  They are on consignment so please be patient I have to consult my client.  *s* Probably my most f...
