The Pumpkin Hunter...

I have noticed in the years of being an antique dealer that younger generations have any if any interest in collecting.  They don't want clutter.  They want to be minimalist.  I have recently found myself trying to get my own children interested in collecting so dragging them along with me is not so boring.  I can say my daughter who has just turned four has become quite the collector. At the time Donnie and I found out we were having a girl, I was at a point that decorating for holiday's was more of a chore than an enjoyment.  JB, my eldest, is big into the Christmas decorating but has little interest in the other holidays.  Somehow having a daughter changed everything.  Our 6 plastic, lighted, molded pumkins we started with has managed to grow to 200 pumpkins, 6 monsters, and trick-or-treat parties and nights Courtney will never forget. Happy Halloween...

Since the birth of our daughter, my husband and I have celebrated Halloween in a BIG way. This year we decorated the outside of our house with 140 light up plastic molded jack-o-lanterns. We have made a huge bash out of trick-or-treat night with several of our friends. This year we did a Sweeney Todd theme and it really turned out great. The amount of trick-or-treaters was unbelievable. We know we had over 300 kids. The fun of our buying our Halloween decorations is shared year round when we go to shows, shop flea markets, yard sales, estate sales, etc. To make our theme more realistic we purchased a 1900's dental chair at the Springfield Extravaganza in May. When we were there again in September we purchased a mannequin to place in it as our victim. She was only a $15 purchase and we got that out of her in laughs. Its amazing what you can find at shows or even your local flea market. You don't have to tie up lots of money in your purchases. We have a tight budget for our deco...

Extravaganza Time!!!

This is the fall show we simply live for...It's SPRINGFIELD EXTRAVAGANZA!! We consider this the start to our favorite holiday season, Halloween/Thanksgiving. Simply put this weekend will be FANTASTIC. The cool smell in the air, the fall decorations, and more antiques/collectibles then you could ever imagine. Springfield posted in a Facebook post that there were 250+ more vendors scheduled for this show then what was there last September. I can't imagine all of the wonderful things we will see. I hope to post daily as friends of ours are traveling with us. I hope to share lots of finds, photos, laughs, & tales! Come join us on this FUNTABULOUS Adventure!
